Jun. 13, 1969 - The CSU began the campaign for the federal election in Munich with their party convention. Federal Finance Minister and Party Chairman Franz Josef Strauss opened the convention after internal proceedings. Over 600 delegates and around 1500 guests came to the Bavarian capital for this purpose. Throughout the conference the delegates for the varying posts were discussed. On the second day Alfons Goppel was selected as Speaker of the Bavarian Prime Minister, Strauss as CSU-Party Chairman and Kiesinger as Chancellor.
