May 05, 1968 - Getting a view of the outside world from the window of his own suite at the National Heart Hospital, Marylebone, London, today, is Britain's first heart transplant patient, Mr. Frederick West 45, of Leigh-on-sea, Essex. Yesterday, Mr. West was moved from the theatre where the surgery took place three weeks and three days ago, to his new suite. Mr. West received the heart of Irish-born Patrick Ryan, 26, a carpenter who died following a fall from a London Building site
