Funeral ceremony for student shot during Shah visit, Berlin

Jan. 09 Funeral ceremony for Benno Ohnesorg in the Auditorium Maximum of the Free University Berlin on Thursday (8.6) - the students honour their fellow student Benno Ohnesorg who was shot by a detective during the bloody demonstrations against the Shah's visit in front of the Deutsche Oper in Berlin. A funeral procession in which about 8000 students participated accompanied the deceased for the last time to the motor road intersection Zehlendorf where Prof. Gollwitzer made a memorial speech. After this a convoy of about 200 cars travelled with the coffin to Hanover. The authorities of the DDR let the convoy pass without controlling them and also didn't collect any duties for the motor road. A commando of the National Popular Army received the convoy at the demarcation line behind the control point Dreilinden'.
