Game of Uckers in progress in Lockerley, Hampshire
Jun. 06, 1970 - The Annual Village Game of Uckers. In the heart of Hampshire is the small village of Lockerley (population about 200). Every year there is a battle to see who is the champion Ucker pair. Uckers is very much like Ludo, but with rules that only a born Ucker player can understand. The markers are made of slices of wood, cut from a tree trunk, coloured red, blue, white, orange. The dice to make the throws are several inches square, and have been in use, in the same family, for over 100 years. All the village turns up to see the play and give advice.
