Mar. 03, 1953 - Annual Marble Championships at Tinley Green.. The annual Good Friday marbles championships were held this morning at the village of Tinley Green, on the Surrey- Sussex border. The contest goes back to Armada days when two village swains competed for the hand of a maiden in a game of marbles..
