Mar. 27 JAPAN BUILDS BIG OIL RIG FOR U.S.A.: A huge machine-room for off-shore oil drilling in U.S.A. is floated from Sasebo Heavy Industries shipyard in Japan to begin a long tow to the Pacific coast of the United States, on completion for Transworld Drilling Company. The three legs which will support the machine-room above water will follow aboard a freighter, the legs will be self-elevatin jack-up type, raising or lowering the big machine-room when required for drilling purposes. The length of the floating drilling rig is 120 m. (400ft.). legs are 45 m long and spaced 82.5. m from each other at four points of support.
