Nov. 11, 1961 - Self-Service Petrol Pump: For the first time in London at the new Total service station near Southwark Bridge, a special self-sevice pump provides help-yourself petroil mixture for mopeds and scooters. Users insert a two-shilling piece, turn a handle, thereby pumping the mixed fuel into a container on the dispenser. Three pints are obtained for 2s.
