Gen Mohammed Neguib, PM of Egypt, ousted by Col Nasser
Nov. 11, 1954 - Colonel Nasser Ousts General Neguib From Office: General Neguib, President of Egypt, has been deposed from office by the Revolutionary Command Council and relieved of all his State duties'. He is not being replaced for the present, but Lieut-Col Nasser, Prime Minister, will fulfill all the functions of Head of State. The General was taken to Villa Marg, outside Cairo, where he is under house arrest. He is alleged to have had a hand in the abortive Moslem Brotherhood plot to overthrow Nasser's government. Photo shows General Neguib leaving the Republican Palace after having been dismissed from all his posts
