1981 - General Omar Bradley dies at 88; US Army General Omar Bradley who commanded over a million allied troops in Europe during the 2nd world war, died in New York last night during a vist wigh his wife Kitty, to the exclusive 21 club. Bradley was the last American five star general, and was commander in chief of US forces which landed in Normandy on D Day.
