General Chehab elected President of Lebanon
Aug. 08, 1958 - General Chehab becomes President of the Lebanese Republic: President Chamoun was the first to congratulate 57 year old General Fuad Chehab, C in C of the Lebanese Armed Forces, when he was elected as his successor in a 30 minute meeting of the Chamber of Deputies, in Beirut.
