Apr. 17 President Chamoun Forces Nomination Of General Chehab For Presidential Elections In Lebanon: Troops have been moved into the Lebanese Parliament Building in Beirut - to ensure that order is maintained during the meeting of the Chamber to elect a new President of the Republic. It now appears to be assured that Gen. Chehab will be nominated. Pres. Chamoun insisted on the nomination of Gen. Chehab - and also that all other candidates should withdraw so that he would be unanimously elected. It was only after Pres. Chamoun had threatened to resign that agreement to the nomination of Gen.
