Oct. 10, 1974 - MaCarthur's cap and pipe exhibited in Tokyo.: General MacArthur's celebrated rumpled military cap and corncob pipe he used during World War II in the campaigns against the Japanese, is part of the 50 years of Showa exhibition at a Tokyo department store sponsored by a national Japanese newspaper (Asahi Shimbun) and the Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education. (The Showa Era denotes the reign of the present Emperor, on the death of the emperor the name of the era is changed for his successor). Photo shows The General MacArthur relics at the exhibition, and a picture of the general wearing his cap and smoking his long-stemmed corncob pipe
