1981 - General Omar Bradley dies at 88: U.S. Army General Omar Bradley, who commanded over a million allied troops in Europe during the 2ndf World War, died in New York last night during a visit with his wife Kitty to the exclusive 21 club. Bradley was the last American Five-star General, and was Commander-in-chief of the U.S forces which landed in Normandy on D-Day.
