General Hussein Amer stripped of rank, Cairo
Feb 13, 1953; Cairo, Egypt; General Amer was sentenced to be stripped of his rank and Colonel Farah was acquitted. The charges were of desertion, inciting to revolt and trafficking in arms with Israel. General Amer was the officerwhom ex King Farouk tried to force last year into the presidency of the Officers Club at Cairo. Gen. Amer was caught while trying to escape to Libya after the Neguib coup d'etat.
