General Jorge Videla in military coup, Argentina
Mar. 03, 1976 - Senora Isabel Peron Under House Arrest After Military Takeover In Argentine: Argentina's armed forces in a swift and apparently bloodless coup have overthrown President Isabel Peron who is now under house arrest in the mountains of Patagonia. After the coup the three armed forces commanders - Army General Jorge Videla, Admiral Emilio Massera and Air Force Brigadier Orlando Agosti, were sworn in as members of the new military junta.
