Feb. 24, 1953 - The Artistic Japanese: Record Entries For This Year's Art Olympics. Record entries for this year's Art Olympics have filled both halls of the Ueno Park in Tokyo with paintings and statues - more than 300 in all. Nearly every Japanese artist and sculptor enters for the contest and hope for the award of the gold medals. All day long, Japanese men and women, and their children, file around the exhibits, studying them and passing their own judgements on them. The standards are remarkably high and reveal a very wide range of contemporary and classical styles and techniques. Artist G. Inokuma always works with his cat beside him. he is working on an entry for the Art Olympics. (Credit Image: (c) Keystone Pictures USA/ZUMAPRESS.com/Mary Evans)
