Geoffrey Hughes, actor, with spaniels in Northamptonshire
Feb. 28 GEOFFREY HUGHES, NEW ROLE AS COUNTRY SQUIRE - Geoffrey Hughes, who plays Eddie Yeates in the TV programme Coronation Street, has finally got away from the industrialised overcrowding of the city centre. He has planted himself with his wife and two Springer Spaniels into the heart of the Northamptonshire countryside. Here he plays a different sort of character, the country Squire. In his new role as Squire, it is possible for him to practise one of his favourite pastimes, shooting. Having recently moved into a thatched cottage, Geoffrey (35) has been able to relax with his wife and leave the pressures and problems connected with acting behind in the studio. Yet, before, when living in the city, it was not possible to do that. Now, Geoffrey and his wife hope to look forward to a good run of the series - perhaps by leading the life of a country Squire, it could pay dividends later with characterisation in a new part
