Feb. 29 George Brown shares Joanne's chips during his canvassing tour of Essex: George Brown, the deputy Labour Party Leader, yesterday made a canvassing tour of Essex, where the Conservatives hold several seats with marginal majorities. During his visit to Hornchurch he was invited by little 4-year-old Joanne Glenister to share her hot chips. Mr. Brown thought quickly - was this a Tory plot to ruin his digestion?. He decided it was not, so he squatted down beside Joanne and swallowed the chip with grace.
