German Leopard tank on display in Munich
Sep. 09, 1965 - the first tank of a series of the German Bunderwehr called Leopard was during a ceremonial in Munich on September 9, 1965 to the German Minister of Defence, Kai-Uwe Von Hassel, German Companies got the order for the technical development. After those development works Messrs. Krauss Maffei, Munich, have the contract for the series production. The German Bundsweshr has a tank which satisfies all requirements. It is strong in fire flight, quick and grants protection. It goes over ditches, steps. hills and through water at full speed. The petrol consumption is low, it can go for 600 km. The Leopard is able to dive. The arming is a 105 mm gun including munitions which is proofed, a further two machine guns and a throwing arrangement for fog.
