May 05, 1952 - Liberation Day in Soviet; occupied Berlin.: Liberation Day, May 8th, 1945, was celebrated all over the Russian zone of occupation and Soviet-occupied Berlin, as a legal holiday. A great many properly enlisted members of the Free German Yought (Freie Deutsche Jugend. F.D.J.) flocked to Brlin. They went to West Berlin in order to decorate the Russian war monument with flowers and wreaths. The Soviet War monument is located in West Berlin.
