Jul. 07, 1953 - HUNGRY CROWDS WARNED TO REFUSE FREE FOOD FROM WEST..COMMUNISTS SAY IT IS AN INSULT'. Food, the first of 1, 000, 000 parcels of it, weighing 5, 000 tons, offered free to the thousands of the hungry East Germans today. But the East Germans have been warned - don't touch it, or else'.The food comes from the Allied and West German officials..The ban on acceptance comes from the Communists..The call the offer an insult'.It is an attempt to recruit agents for the west - they say..Yesterday the East Berlin city Government (executive council told the the family hit city - you must not enter West Berlin to get these five pound food parcels'.The communists have made sure that the ban is carried out - for they have built wire fences at strategic points - and have made workers promise to refuse food and have threatened police action against those who defy the ban.
