Aug. 08, 1953 - East Germans Continue To Crowd Into The Western Zone For Free Food: In spite of the stringent restrictions placed upon them by the Soviet Authorities - East Germans continue to pour into the Western Zone to collect the free food being distributed to them by the American Authorities. The Volkspoliszei do everything they can do stop them collecting the food - and in many cases it is confiscated when they return to their home territory.
