Jul. 07, 1954 - Iron Curtain girl is home at last: A little English girl who can speak only Polish came home with her mother yesterday. Home from Communist Poland home to a waiting family in Chesterfield. As the Warsaw plane touched down at Northolt Airport it was journey's end for 24 year old Mrs. Anne Szramowska and her five year old daughter Cecilia.With her ash-fair hair blowing in the breeze Mrs. Szramowska whispered Wonderful. It's too wonderful to be true. I can't believe we are home at last. Mrs. Szramowska went to Poland with her husband in 1951. Soon after wards he died mysteriously. The began a fight for an exit visa and freedom. Photo shows home after a three year fight for freedom is Mrs. Szramowska and her daughter Cecilia seen here as they arrive at Northolt Airport yesterday
