Mar. 03, 1953 - First Special Plane for Refugees: For the first time the most up-to-date plane known under the name Clipper was used for the transport of refugees from Berlin to Western Germany by an American Airline Corporation. The four - engined Clipper was taken out of trans-ocean service and will from now fly shuttle-traffic on the air-bridge for refugees from Berlin to Frankfort.
