Oct. 09, 1952 - Joseph Ebner was awarded one of the highest honors an American can receive. The American Medal for Outstanding Civil Service was bestowed upon the 28 year old for putting himself in danger removing a fake time bomb from the fuel tank of a plane and running into a field with it. The storekeeper did not know the bomb was fake and that the placement was an exercise for the military. Pictured here: Joseph Ebner with his family at the handing out of the award.
