Jul. 07, 1953 - 20, 000 East Germans cross the Iron Curtain.: On Monday, 29 June 1953, some 20, 000 East Germans crossed the border control point Gliencker Bruecke, near potsdam, Berlin. Members of the East German people's police requisted no passes or special permits, but nobody was authorized to have only some food with him. The Berlin traffic Society manage it to obtain enough busses to take the East Germans over the border
