Germany - Lithuania - Poland

Oct. 25, 1953 - Ernst Reuter continues to work even in death. A million pounds of butter was donated to needy Germans in Berlin as part of a food donation from the International Rescue Committee. It goes to help welfare recipients, jobless, and East-German refugees. The project was continued at the behest of recently-deceased former mayor Prof. Ernst Reuter. Pictured: The deceased mayor's widow, Mrs. Hanna Reuter, at the distribution of the packages of butter to needy Germans. Next to her is new Berlin mayor Dr. Schreiber, American Commander General Timbermann and the president of the International Rescue Committee, Dr. Leo Cherne
