Feb. 03, 1954 - The German-American exchange program celebrates a threefold anniversary today. Departing from the Rhein-Main airport, thirty two year old translator Hilda Wiehers from Essen was the 10, 000th German to leave her home in order to spend a three-month study trip in the United States. It is the 500th flight to bring a study group to the USA, with the first being five years ago today.
