Nov. 24, 1953 - Pictured here is a set of socks filled with black market coffee. The smuggling of coffee into West Berlin became a major economic problem as it deprived the economy of over 7, 000, 000, 000DM. It is smuggled over from the Soviet section. The Soviets allowed it in an attempt to do harm to the economy of West Berlin. This custom official, who didn't want to be revealed, holds socks full of the coffee
