Jun. 06, 1953 - Seligenstadt celebrates its 1125 anniversary Famous Spoon Drink seen for the first time since 1945.: On 14 June 1953, the lovely and romantic city of Seligenstadt, situated in the Main Valley (between Hanau and Aschaffenburg, Southern Germany) celebrates its 1.125 anniversary according to a fine tradition. This is the famous Seligenstadt Spoon-drink. Lasting for many hundred years, the city appointed its honorary citizens by means of this drink. These selected by the city to become honorary citizens were presented a big, fine. Silver-chased appon, full with wine and the future honorary citizens had to empty the spoon at one draught Whenever a man was able to do it. he was dubbed a knight.
