May 24, 1952 - Pictured is the traditional Blutritt, a procession of horses, this time numbering 2, 700, ride for two and a half hours through the acres of the wine garden. The tradition of this ceremony began in 1090. The procession ended at the Pontifical building of the Bishop of Mainz in the cloistered courtyard of the Benedictine Cloister(pictured here)
