Jun. 20, 1954 - Pictured here is Gustav Scholling. The 60 year old is blind and was in court for the death of his likewise blind lifelong partner 69 year old Magdalena Jonissek, who was suffering from severe meningitis. She asked him to end her life in order to escape the pain. The court gave him the lightest sentence possible, two months in prison with a probationary period. Scholling used a noose to end her life. Our picture shows Scholling, covered with a coat covering him, as he exited the courthouse
