Jul. 15, 1954 - Pictured are only a few of the 145 men and women who were released to West Germany from the East Zone. They had served time in penitentiaries like Bautzen, Torgau, and Luckau. They were welcomed to Friedland Camp with flowers and gifts. They are pictured here enjoying their first meal of freedom. The penitentiaries had clearly taken a toll, as one can see on their faces
