Sep. 09, 1955 - EX-ADMIRAL RAEDER IS RELEASED FROM SPANDAU. Ex-ADMIRAL RAEDER, 79-year-old former chief of Hitler's navy was released from Spandau war crimes jail today. A Four Power statement said that he had been freed on account of his advanced age and state of his health. Raeder's wife was with him as he limped from the gloomy prison building. A car took them to a hospital in the British Zone where Raeder will stay for several weeks.
