1957 - Street fights in East Berlin The East Zone government arrange on April 10th a great manouvre of the factory fighting groups together with units of the police in the streets of East Berlin. The fights happened near the Alexander place and in front of East Berlin Town Hall. Also tanks attended the manouvre. The fighting groups used unsharp munition. the fights had the character of a citizen war. After the exercise a great parade and meeting took place on the Bebel Place and in front of the town hall
