Nov. 17, 1956 - The German Red Cross returned from helping in Hungary and thanked Chancellor Dr. Adenauer for his help as well as conferred an award upon him for it. The chancellor is pictured here in the middle with two German Red Cross members who were arrested during travels in Budapest by Russians. They were arrested in the citadel, shaved, and immediately sent to the Hungarian-Romanian border. The next day they were personally set free by the Russian city commander.
