Aug. 08, 1956 - Four Polish Pilots escape from Poland in two Army planes: Four Polish Pilots escaped from Poland in two Army planes. They flew from Deblin Airfield, near Warsaw and were fired on by the military soon after taking off but they carried on and eventually made forced landings in Austria having run out of fuel. One of the machines landed near Oberbergen and the two occupants Karol Kruk (22) and Bogdan Biskupski (21) immediately applied for political asylum. The other plane came down in the forest near Kirshberg and the two occupants also escaped serious injury and applied for political asylum.
