Jul. 07, 1958 - Cross of the Legion of Honour for Anna Stadler: On July 14, 1958, the National Day of the French, the French general consul in Munich was bestowing the cross of the Legion of Honour to the 60 years old Anna Stadler from Gundelfingen Donau. She is the first German woman, getting the esteemed French decoration.Risking her own life during the last days of the war, she was saving the lifes if 80 French men, who were staying in the concentration camp Neu-Offingen near Ulm and who should be killed by gas at Bachau. When hearing that the prisoners were to be brought to Dachau. When hearing that the prisoners were to be brought Dachau, she was writing a little note, which could be sent to the camp.
