Aug. 08, 1959 - Search continues for Suspected unemployed bomb near the Tate gallery: Work continues today searching for what is thought to be an unexploded wartime bomb in the shadow of the Tate Gallery. In charge of operations is Major A.B. Hartley of the Army Bomb Disposal Unit. and included in the team are former German Prisoners of War. Should it be proved that is a bomb it is expected that some of the more valuable exhibits at the Tate Gallery will be moved to safety. Photo shows Major. A.B. Hartley with some of the disposal team including the former German P.O.W.S. now attached to the Royal Engineers during excavations near the Tate Gallery
