Jan. 01, 1959 - With dress-coat and silk hat: the menof the lower Frankonia place Oberschwarzach meet on each January 20th since 1611 to honour the patron saint St. Sebastian. In 1611 the pestilence raged in the village and the farmers and the workmen solemnly promised to honour the holy Sebastian every year on January when he set free them of the pestilence. The pestilence retired an the people of Oberschwarzach kept their promise till today. Photo shows The mayor Eduard Herold is the captain on the Sebastian-Bay. Finally when the home Guard is ready he comes with two officer to take the command. Then they mar with wood-lances an axes through the street to the church for the divine service
