Nov. 11, 1959 - Pilot saves refuge family from deportation. Refuses to leave vienna with them aboard.: Polish refugees Dr. Simon Czerwinski his wife and their nine year old daughter Eva were ordered to be deported from Austria by the Austrian police. They were placed aboard an aricraft of El Al Airlines - but the pilot of the machine refused to take off - so the family were taken into police oustody one again. The action of pilot brought the matter to the notice of the authorities - and the family were granted permission to stay in Austria for some months until permission can be obtained for them to emigrate to the United States of America - this is being arranged for them by the National Catholic Welfare Conference of the U.S.A. The police claimed that originally Dr. Czerwinski had given them false information - only to gain time for emigration to the U.S.A. Photo shows Dr. Simon and Mrs.Czerwinski and daughter Eva - in the home found for them by the Vienna authorities - while they await emigration to the U.S.A
