Martin Blimetsrieder - one of the last hatters of Bavaria: He can put a hat also on the biggest heads: Martin Blimestreider (our picture) from Aschau/West Germany. The 37 year old man is one of the last and sure the youngest - hatter in his family: His great great grandfather (also name Martin Blimtesrieder) with the same profession was first mentioned in the chronicles of 1825. It continues with the great grandfather, the grandfather and the father of today's junior. All had the same name. Till today, the hatter is still putting the velours-parts-which he has stiffened before - under a steam cover. After that, he takes off the rough drafts over wooden heads. So, they get their right form. Then he brushes them and puts them into a stove. Now, they can dry. Following to that, he cuts them. Finally he decorates them, while he sews the cuts them. Finally he decorates them, while he sews the lining and a leather-ribbon. Then he fastens a cord and a feather. Now, the fine specimen is ready. Martin Blimetsieder produces about 1000 hats during one year - predominantly for traditional clubs
