Berlin - city of contrasts: View from the Kurfustendamm over the district Zoo at the Berlin zoo. All visible buildings have been built within the past 6 years. On the left the Dob-house of Fashion, in the background the Hansa-Quarter. Architectonic contrast. Milliards of dollars were raised to rebuild West- Berlin in the most modern manner. Some years ago there was a big international building exhibition in Westberlin which also errected the new socalled Hansa-quarters. Wolrd-famous architects like the Italian Nervi and the Frenchman Corbusier have here built ultra modern houses. In comparison the building of East - Berlin look plain and almost poor except the Stalin alley in which the biggest buildings of East - Berlin are to be found. Rebuilding works restrict only in repairing and everybody who knew the old City is disappointed when seeing the Berlin behind the zone border
