Feb. 28 Federal Chancellor of West-Germany Helmut Schidt visited the UdSSR.: Federal Chancellor Helmut Schmidt and Federal Minister for foreign Affairs Hans-Dietrich Genscher and their delegation started at Monday June 30th, 1980 to an official state-visit to MOscow/UdSSR. In their talks with the Soviet government and the party-headquarter the Chancellor and the Minister for foreign affairs reached a agreement with Moscow to have negotiations about the medium-distance-rockets in the future. Schmidt and Genscher flew back to West-Germany even at Thursday July 1st in the evening. The proceedings during the state-visit renounced of all exteriors to have a quick start of the talks between the partners. The federal Chancellor had two meetings with state and party-leader Leonid Breschnew. The negotiations partner of Hans-Dietrich Genscher was his Soviet colleague Andej Gromiko. Also plenary meetings took place in Moscow.
