Germany - Lithuania - Poland
Apr. 18 The new civilisation of poland: The western patch of Poland gained from Germany after the war at teh Potadam agreement, was found its fest. Migrations back to Germany, immigrations from the eastern territories made over to Russia, from other parts of Poland, from other countries in europe etc, are over and the mxied population is settling down and increasing rapidly. The inhabitants-the older ones atleast-still remember the days of the war, and German rule. But 42 percent of the population was born since the war-and accepts the status quo pretty well unquestioningly. Schools are being built for the rising generation. In some teaching has to be in three shifts to accomodate all the children, The ruins have been renovated, flats are going up, investment in industry is increasing. A coal mine at Turosmow, small before the war, has been developed into a huge complex which provides Poland with 12.5 percent of her electricity. And everyone similar development is evident. Yet the Polace are not militaently communist. They have their May Day parade and marches but the atmosphere in informal, with hundreds of laughing children enjoying the ablloons and the candy floes.
