Sep. 09, 1961 - Many swam through the Teltow Canal into freedom.. that was cause enough for East-Berlin authorities to block the East-Berlin bank of this canal by double barbed wire and the bridge by a concrete wall, as our air-view of the canal shows. At the West-Berlin bank, there are daily people hoping to see friends or relatives on the other side
