Jul. 07, 1960 - Man of greatest power in East Germany behind Walter Ulbricht (Walter Ulbricht) is now the army general Willi Stoph (Willi Stoph) so far Minister of Defence. He was ordered from his post and received order to, in future, co-ordinate and control all decisions of the central committee of the East German communist party and the Council of Ministers. His successor as Minister of Defence is his former deputy, General Heinz Hoffmann (Heinz Hoffman). Photo shows Willi Stoph (left)
