Sep. 09, 1961 - Munich Oktoberfest 1961 opened again: Exactly at 12 o'clock today (23rd September 1961) the Munich Oktoberfest which is the biggest fun-fair in the world, was opened again by the former mayor of Munich, Thomas Wimmer (Thomas Wimmer). 15000 beer-mugs and 150 waitresses were ready for the customers in the big Schottenhamel-tent (Schottenhamel). Photo shows Thomas Wimmer giving the first mug with beer to famous television comedian Willy Millowitsch (Willy Millowitsch). On Wimmer's right the present mayor of Munich, Dr. Hans-Jochen Vogel (Vogel)
