Jun. 18, 1963 - Red Army seals off East Berlin: Tanks and Armoured Cars open fire: East Berlin was lost night sealed off by thousands of Russian troops, with at least 25 heavy tanks commanding strategic points, after five hours of rioting and street battles between strikers and demonstrators on the one hand and the Soviet Sector police on the other.
