Jul. 31, 1969 - U-Hecht is no longer submerged! The oldest serving U-Boat of the Germany Navy was raised by a crane in Kiel and placed on land, where it will be scrapped in the next three weeks.s 171 was a sister ship of the U-Hai, which sank in the North Sea on September 14, 1966 and took 19 of 20 crewmen with it. Just like the Hai, the 230 ton Hecht was used by the Third Reich. The Hecht, with a crew of 20 men, is being used by U-Boat crews as a training tool and test ship
